TEACHING AND RESEARCH FARM

AT DUTCH CREEK

CODE OF CONDUCT

Remember what we do is to be a reflection of the Sustainable Development Program. The actions we choose are ones that will aid in the development of the program and foster sustainability.

Be responsible for your actions and respect the actions of others. This not only includes your fellow students, volunteers and guests at the farm, but also creatures living in, on and around the farm.

Please take out whatever you bring in, and recycle or compost it if possible.

You are responsible for the equipment and instruments given to you for the lab and farm activities. Return farm equipment to the tool shed, and return scientific equipment to the lab room.

Report all broken and/or missing equipment and instruments immediately.

Look at crop rotation and companion planting before putting seeds or transplants in the ground. Record what is planted where, when, how much and by whom in the farm logbook.

Respect the beds by minimizing your steps on and in them. Walking on the beds compacts the soils and endangers the plant roots and soil flora/fauna systems.

Weigh ALL harvested produce and record in the ‘Harvest’ section of the farm logbook.

A first aid kit will be located in the shed/barn. Please note in the log book if an item is used so that it can be replaced.
