A Debt-free Education
A new scholarship fund called Appalachian Commitment to a College Education for Student Success (ACCESS) brought its first group of recipients to campus this fall. Each year, it will provide scholarship money to about 40 of Appalachian’s most financially needy, in-state freshmen.
The money pays for institutional costs (tuition, fee, room and board) beyond that covered by state and federal financial aid and other grants and scholarships. Students also receive services such as long-term academic advising, mentoring and financial planning.
