Appalachian and the Community Together

Through Appalachian & the Community Together (ACT), Appalachian students can express their benevolent spirit through community service, service-learning, and community-based research opportunities. These activities benefit agencies in the High Country, across the state and around the world.

Among its accolades, ACT was recognized by the U.S. News & World Report in 2005 and 2006 as having a strong academic service-learning program, which allows students to combine classroom learning with hands-on service projects. Students also were listed on the President’s Higher Education Honor Roll for their work with hurricane relief efforts.
