Students learn best by doing. In the Hayes School of Music, students expand their knowledge of the recording industry by signing, recording and marketing local bands through their own record label called Split Rail Records.

Students work in teams related to advertising, recording and production, publishing, artist and repertoire, legal, publishing, marketing and finance. The label worked with two bands during its first year of operation - Philmont and Defending Brooklyn.
