Orientation Welcome Week for Students is Aug 21-24
Orientation Welcome Weekend (Aug. 21-24) is all about what it is really like to live at Appalachian. Students have been shown a great deal concerning academics, but they have yet to be introduced to all aspects of student life at the university.
Students' success in college is ultimately based on their ability to function independently. The more confident and comfortable a student is with their environment, the more successful they will be; therefore, Welcome Weekend activities are mandatory.
Our goals for these four days are for students to become more comfortable at Appalachian, to make new friends, to have fun, and to start weaving themselves into the fabric of student life at Appalachian. Through small group sessions, a club expo and resource fair, as well as special interest sessions, the orientation leaders, also known as Appol Corps leaders (Appalachian Orientation Leader Corps), provide incoming students with the valuable information needed to make decisions concerning academic and non-academic activities. Welcome Weekend is an exciting time for new students and we really look forward to continuing to welcome them to the university.
