The Parents Fund - support the Appalachian Family While many universities use the term “family” to describe their campus culture, we at Appalachian truly feel we are a family that cares deeply about one another. As members of the Appalachian Family, we recognize the Appalachian Experience is not for a day, or an hour, or a college term only – but for life. For 20 years the Appalachian Parents Association has worked with the University Administration to support the student experience here. Appalachian is a destination of choice among the brightest and best high school graduates and is becoming nationally recognized university that combines the best characteristics of a liberal arts education with the opportunities afforded by many research institutions. The Appalachian Parents Association has been dedicated to ensuring our students are afforded opportunities for scholarship and personal growth not covered by tuition and fees alone. Support to the Association continues to enhance student services and activities, strengthen academic programs and facilities, and develop new initiatives that help prepare students to thrive in a complex world. Your partnership ensures an extraordinary education for your student – we call that the Appalachian Experience! You and other parents, grandparents and family members are partners in developing exceptional growth opportunities that will impact your child inside and outside the classroom. These include the annual Walk for Awareness, which brings attention to personal safety; additional services through the Career Development Center; and support of the annual Diversity Celebration, among other projects.
