CHAIRPERSON 1999-2000 OFFICERS 2000-2001 OFFICERS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING ANNOUNCEMENTS COMMENTS FROM THE CHAIR: This will be the last newsletter article I will be writing as
the Chair of District #3. At our Annual Meeting in July, Dr. Pat
Reighard was elected to Chair our District for 2000-2001. Pat will
begin his duties as Chair on October 1, 2000. We congratulate Pat
and know he will do a superb job for SEANC and this District.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the officers for being
so cooperative and supportive and for helping to make this a very productive
year. Teresa Johnson as the Secretary and Teresa Canton as our Treasurer
have been invaluable to me and this District. Libby Clawson, Pat Taylor
and Teresa Canton have made great strides in our Communications area.
They created a website, published an excellent Newsletter and they handled
all the news releases. In addition, they kept a Scrapbook for our
District that has been entered in the State-wide competition for District
of the Year Award. This award will be presented at the State Convention
in September. I have been fortunate to be able to work with such
a dedicated, hard
I just want to encourage you to invite others to join this Association.
The membership dues of $48 is a small price to pay for the benefits we
receive. SEANC member benefits include: Full-time lobbyist
in the General Assembly; Our spokesman before the State Personnel commission,
Retirement System Board of Trustees, State Health Plan Board
One last thing I want to mention, please mark your calendars now for the Rally in Raleigh on Wednesday, May 16, 2001. Last year over 5800 State workers from all over North Carolina came together in Raleigh to let the Legislators know that we can “vote ‘em in or vote ‘em out”. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE Mike Stanley, Chair Tickets are now available for the annual Scholarship Fund Raffle. The grand prize is a 2000 Ford Ranger Pickup. The first prize is a 25” Color TV with remote. The drawing will be September 9, 2000. Tickets are $1.00 each. VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE It is the right of every American citizen to vote for the candidate of their choice that will represent them all the way from the local offices to the President of the United States. Please get out and exercise your right. SEANC is sponsoring a Voter Registration Drive on Friday, September 29, 2000, at all the State Employees Credit Unions in North Carolina. If you have had a name change, address change or if you want to change your party affiliation, this will be your opportunity to have a convenient location to fill out the necessary paperwork.
