The Heltzer Honors Program

      Appalachian State University, a member institution of the University of North Carolina, has offered academic Honors programs to its best students for more than 35 years. The Heltzer Honors Program offers pr omising and highly motivated students opportunities to broaden and enrich their academic experience by providing honors classes in many fields. Emphasis is on independent and creative thinking, discussion, and exchange of ideas. Honors at Appalachian, a c ommunity of learning within the larger community, seeks to offer an experience that values academic excellence, community, and service.
