Chemistry

Graduation Requirements

Chemistry majors who fulfill the following requirements will be eligible to graduate with Honors in Chemistry:

  • Complete a minimum of 9 hours of chemistry honors credit
  • Graduate with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.45 and a GPA of 3.45 in chemistry courses
    Complete a minimum of one chemistry honors contract in each academic year during participation in the program. A student will not be allowed to enroll in more than one honors chemistry contract per semester
  • Attend all departmental seminars during any semester in which a chemistry honors contract has been established
  • Attend at least one off-campus professional chemistry meeting in each of his/her junior and senior years
  • Complete an independent laboratory research project during his/her senior year
  • Present at least one oral presentation to the department and at least one at an off-campus professional chemistry conference or symposium.
    Submit a written senior research thesis to the chemistry department at the completion of the honors program
  • Contact the Chemistry Honors Director for details concerning the Honors Thesis and Contract for honors courses.
