What is Collegiate Middle Level Association?

 

Here at Appalachian we feel that being an active member of CMLA offers you many great opportunities.  Among these include: Becoming active in middle level education as pre-service professionals. Being involved directly with middle school students. Growing professionally as a middle level educator. Gaining further knowledge of middle school concepts and philosophies as well as the teaching profession. Attending conferences to gather more knowledge on subject areas and classroom strategies. Meeting new and interesting people who are also excited about middle level education. Being a part of a great group of professionals and students

The Purposes

The Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) is a professional education organization for students preparing to become middle level teachers. It is the student affiliate of the National Middle School Association (NMSA). Members of state chapters may also be able to take advantage of joint membership with their state NMSA affiliate. A purpose of CMLA is to provide support and encouragement for students in middle level education and to inform members of progress and activities of both CMLA and other student groups via newsletters, electronic technology, and other sources of communication.
