On July 28-30th, 2005, our current High Iota, Garrett Braford and current High Rho, Cameron Proctor attended the recent LXA Leadership Seminar held at the University of MD in College Park. Our chapter was recognized with a Campus Involvement Award; one of only a handful given out amongst the hundred plus chapters in attendence. The seminar was able to provide us with ways to save money through risk management, and keep better communication with our alumni. It also held a large focus on the importance of good leadership and communication within the chapter. The event allowed our brothers to interact and share information with representatives from all of our fraternity's chapters. The seminar was also filled with other fun events for participants, such as a 3 on 3 basketball tourneyment and a hypnotist. On January 8-11th, 2004, the first annual Council of Presidents was held in Columbus, Ohio. Our current High Alpha, McKenzie Olmsted (Zeta 595), had the opportunity to attend this event. The conference covered many of the issues faced by High Alphas and workshops were held on risk management, alumni relations, standards, recruitment, and many other topics. It was a worthwhile event and gave presidents the chance to interact with other chapters, as well as meet the Grand High Zeta. High Alphas were also given the opportunity to participate in a ropes course which was structured to build teamwork and leadership skills. McKenzie learned a lot about how the General Fraternity is structured and feels it helped him be more prepared for taking office this semester. Hopefully the chapter's next High Alpha will also be able to attend a Council of Presidents.
