The Counseling & Psychological Services Center is pleased to announce our new Alcohol Prevention Coordinator Kendal McDevitt, MA, DTR.
Kendal received her masters degree in somatic psychology with a focus on dance/movement therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She completed her internship at the Addiction Recovery Center and Detox Unit in Boulder County, and has worked for the last year towards her licensure and certification as a substance abuse counselor at First Things First, a private counseling agency in Boone. She has a strong interest in the ways in which body and mind influence each other. A native of Asheville, Kendal chose to move back to North Carolina to be near her family, the mountains, and a dance-oriented community.
The Center is fortunate to have such a capable individual as Kendal working with us. We feel certain that her special skills, abilities, and personality will be a great contribution to the Center, the student body, and the Appalachian community.
