These free and confidential Counseling & Psychological Services Center groups are designed to provide growthful experiences both for students who want to resolve specific concerns and those who generally want to enhance the quality of their interactions with others and feel better about themselves.

Below are brief descriptions and meeting times of the groups offered at the center. Groups meet weekly and are generally limited to 6-8 people. To arrange to participate in a group or for more information, contact the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at 262-3180, or come by our office located in Miles Annas Building (same building as the University Post Office).

Understanding Self and Others (Six Group Times–Mondays 3:00-4:30 p.m., Tuesdays 3:30-5:00 p.m., Tuesdays 5:00-6:30 p.m., Wednesdays 1:00-2:30 p.m., Wednesdays 3:00-4:30 p.m., or Thursdays 3:30-5:00 p.m.)

Members explore and talk about patterns of relating to self and others with the aim of developing greater understanding and acceptance of themselves and others. Presenting issues vary widely from depression, anxiety, and difficulties relating to/accepting self or others, issues of family conflict or abuse, etc. Students who want to resolve specific concerns as well as those seeking personal growth are welcome. This can be a good time for individuals to get their peers' perspectives on various issues, and recognize that you are not the only one.

Understanding Self and Others for Men (Mondays, 5:00-6:30 p.m.)

Same as the above, for those who want the support of an all male group.

Understanding Self and Others for Women (Wednesdays, 10:00-11:30 a.m.)

Same as the above, for those who want the support of an all female group.

Accepting Self - Body & All! (Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)

This group will offer two different experiences in each session. The first part follows the same format and offers the advantages of an Understanding Self & Others group (see above) but taking into account the special issues and needs of those who struggle with eating and body image concerns. In the second part, members will be provided with practical information and exercises in areas such as stress management, self-esteem, and healthy habits to assist in successful living.

Therapeutic Weekend for Self Enhancement (Friday, March 26, 5:30 - 9:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., follow-up: Wednesday, April 7)

This group will be a 21 hour intensive therapeutic experience for those who are committed to self-exploration to enhance knowledge, understanding and acceptance of self, improve styles of relating to self and others, and overcome problems or blocks that limit personal power and potential.
