Belk Library contacts all Fortune 500 companies for their annual report: currently more than 80 percent have been received for 1997. Annual reports are located in the black file cabinet behind the Consultation Offices in the Reference area. See the databases below for online access to annual reports.

Free online access to SEC filings. Searchable by company name or SIC code. Reports can be viewed online or turned into downloadable Excel spreadsheets. Also includes "in-depth financial analysis based on FreeEDGAR financial data" and "basic information on finance and investing."

Select Company Financial Information from the Topic List. From the Report Type list select SEC Annual Reports. Coverage starts in 1987. 
 
The Public Register Online Annual Report Service 
Currently has reports for more than 1,100 companies. When selecting a company, you will have the choice to view the online annual report (most are in the Adobe Acrobat format (*.pdf)) or you may request a hard copy. 
 
Economic Census, Report Series

Covers eight sectors of the economy: retail trade; wholesale trade; service industries;  transportation, communications, and utilities; financial, insurance, and real estate industries;  manufactures; mineral industries, and construction industries. Statistics common to all sectors include the number of establishments, number of employees,  payroll, and measures of output such as sales, receipts, value of shipments, and value of  construction work done.
