Edwin P. Hubble (1889-1953)

Some people discover new worlds; Hubble discovered the universe. He proved that galaxies exist beyond our own, and that they are all fleeing from each other. From his measurements of galactic redshifts, he determined the rate of expansion of the universe, and thus its age.
