Brain Awareness Week
March 16-22, 1998
Brain Awareness
Week (BAW) is a nationwide effort organized by the Dana Alliance for
Brain Initiatives and the Society for Neuroscience to promote the public
and personal benefits of brain research. We promoted Brain Awareness
Week as part of CD 5674 Adult Language Disorders.
Activities were developed to promote Brain Awareness in several settings
(click on the underlined links to see photos):
-
Reich College of
Education: Bulletin boards, posters, handouts, videos, and an information
table were used to promote Brain Awareness in Edwin Duncan Hall.
-
Local Elementary Schools: Lessons on brain anatomy, function, and
protection were presented to individual classes at Blowing
Rock and Banner
Elk Schools.
-
Watauga Medical
Center Information sheets on brain protection were provided to
WMC employees
-
Across the Community: Radio
interviews, editorials, and press releases published in several local
newspapers helped promote Brain Awareness across the community.
