Megan Steinweg

BS Biology, Appalachian State University, 2005

I studied the effects of soil freezing on soil structure and particulate organic matter for my senior honor's thesis (Steinweg, M., M.C. Fisk, B. McAlexander, P.M. Groffman, and J. Hardy. 2007. Effects of soil freezing on soil particle size distributions and organic matter mineralization in a northern hardwood forest. Soil Biology and Biochemistry, in review). One important effect of potential climate change is a delay in winter snowpack formation in the northeastern United States. My project is part of a larger study at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest that investigates the effects of reduced snowpack on soil freezing and biogeochemical processes.

I am currently working on my MS at the Natural Resource Ecology Lab, Colorado State University.
