Spanish 1050: Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online textbook?
How do I find my assignments?
What if one of the links doesn't work?
Why do I have to print out my assignments?

Q: What is an online textbook?
A: This online textbook is similar in many ways to a traditional Spanish textbook; it contains grammar explanations, vocabulary lists, and exercises. However, by virtue of being online, it also contains numerous links to other web sites and resources.

Q: How do I find my assignments?
A: As with a print textbook, your starting point is the Table of Contents. Navigate first to the appropriate Unit (Unidad) and look under Tarea y Ejercicios (Homework and Exercises). Each assignment has both a name and a number, which your instructor should give you in class. If you cannot find an assignment that matches the name and number provided by your instructor, please contact him or her for help.

Q: What if one of the links doesn't work?
A: One of the challenges of maintaining an online textbook is making sure that all outside links stay current and valid. If you find any dead links, or if you suspect that a link is no longer current or appropriate, please notify your instructor.

Q: Why do I have to print out some assignments?
A: Because Spanish 1050 does not use a paper-based textbook or workbook, you are responsible for printing out some of the homework assignments and bringing them to class. While many assignments can be completed and corrected online, there are other activities that simply cannot be evaluated over the internet. Keep in mind that the cost associated with printing out these activities is far lower than the cost of a traditional textbook.
