Survivors and Stories

Willi Gottlieb

For the thirteen Holocaust survivors whose images and words are depicted one these pages, the Holocaust took place when they were children or teenagers.  Thus, the experiences they endured had particular significance, impacting each survivor during his or her formative years.  Throughout the interviews, survivors reflected not only on what they went through and how they escaped, but also how it affected their families and how the experience influenced their lives as adults. Though shaped by similar historical forces, each survivor had a unique story with its own unexpected turn of events.
