The French Table :
* welcomes anyone interested in improving or maintaining their oral communication skills in French. * offers useful, guided conversational practice in a non-threatening environment to all persons -- from those beginning their studies of the language to those whose linguistic proficiency is more advanced. * is completely voluntary and informal in nature. That is, there's no pressure to "perform". Speak when you're comfortable doing so, remembering that listening is not only an important skill, but 50% of any meaningful conversation! * will meet one evening per week for approximately one hour. Dr. Lane will be present to facilitate discussions and to assist with vocabulary, pronunciation, and communication strategies, but the French Table is not to be likened to a French class or tutoring session.
While most meetings will be amorphous, allowing students to meet in
small groups or with partners and discuss a topic of their own choosing,
