Please answer three (3) questions overall;THAT IS, ONLY DO ONE QUESTION PER SET.
A. Answer one question:
1. We spent a great deal of time in class talking about Gilgamesh. Now, if he and his friend Enkidu walked into this room, what do you think they would look and behave like. And if we could understand them, what sorts of issues would we raise with them? Be careful, this is not as easy an answer as you think.
and/or
2. Describe at least two political leaders of the Ancient World. Be sure to include in your discussion such points as behavior, education, attitudes, military prowess, ambitions, legal powers, and anything else of interest to you. If they were to join us today, what sorts of flaws would you particularly want to ask about?
B. Answer two questions:
3. Please compare the great river systems of the Nile and the Tigris and Euphrates. Address principally such topics as the rivers themselves, the overall geographic considerations, climate, religious and governmental constructs.
and/or
4. Please contrast the city states of Athens and Sparta. I am particularly interested in hearing about their governments, their military, their artistic expression, their attitude toward women and slaves and their influences on their future.
C. Answer two questions:
5. Please describe the influences of the Greeks and Romans on our world. Be sure to include such areas as language, government, military, aesthetics, the arts and architecture.
and/or
6. Please compare and contrast the Roman family of the Augustan period with that of the United States today.
Good Luck!
