Welcome to Math 3030!
Be sure to purchase your textbook, manipulatives kit, and calculator for the course as soon as you can. We will use these items regularly. Looking to the left, you will find links that you may need in this course. I suggest you explore some of these soon, especially your textbook site, so that you will be familiar with them.
Practicum Information
You will be completing your field experience in Wilkes County Schools. Your practicum will begin on March 27, and your last day will be April 24. I would love to visit you in your classrooms and will make at least two visits to your placements. If you let me know ahead of time if you will be doing something you would like for me to observe, feel free to call or email me about it. I will make every effort to observe you that day.
As a block intern, you should behave in a manner that is becoming of a teacher and representative of ASU. Wear appopriate clothing, use language that is respectful of all around you, and avoid using your cell phones except in cases of emergencies (real ones!). Cooperate with the faculty and staff, but always contact your block instructors if you have any concerns about your experience.
Internship Assignments
You will have two assignments to complete during the internship. The first involves a small case-study of a student in mathematics, and the second involves teaching and reflecting upon two lessons presented to small groups. you will receive more information about these in class.
Please note that the Observing Assignment is submitted via email or paper copy and is not submitted on TaskStream. The Planning Assignment is submitted through TaskStream.
