I have a loose, scrawling kind of style when I decide to sketch. I use a ballpoint pen (how professional) and whatever paper I can get my hands on. I have only recently acquired a tablet (from 4drn's family), so my main method of getting art online is to scan them into photoshop from a hard sketch. Once in photoshop I may do some quick adjustments (adjust levels, de-noise, erase smudges or glares), but anything really significant will probably be moved to a seperate section.
The content of my sketches tend to be jokes or character designs, though I do other stuff on occasion. At some point I'll need to start sketching up some environments, if I really want to get my webcomic going. Sketching is a good way to figure out what needs doing before diving in headfirst.
