time to relax and enjoy life.

Some of us continue to study and see more geology even
on our days off.

Not every day is sunny. High on the slope of Mt. Magasan

attitude while Michelle Brewer (Appalachian), Philip Ong (UNC
Chapel Hill), and Lucio D'Alberto provide moral support as all
wait and shiver.

Look carefully... the parking lot, road, buses, and
lake are almost directly below students on this slope that leads
up to Belvedere near Marmolada glacier. One cannot map and do
field work in this area without climbing some rather steep slopes.
The Dolomites are not flat!

Vertical beds of the Scaglia Rossa in this excellent
roadside exposure contain well preserved trace fossils. We have
measured, described, and interpreted this section a couple of
times in the past.
