Mock Trial Team Project: Assignments and Grading
The mock trial project is worth 100 points (20% of your grade). This grade is the sum of four components: research paper, oral presentation, reaction paper and peer review.
Forensic economists have been hired by the law firm to conduct a forensic economic analysis in support of your side's case in the mock trial. The 3-4 page paper will describe the literature you reviewed and/or basic research conducted. Also develop a table or chart summarizing your arguments that you will introduce during the trial as an exhibit. The format of the paper should be as a report to the law firm. The attorneys will provide a summary of entire team's research and how this research will be argued during the trial. The research paper is worth 100 points.
Oral presentations consist of opening and closing arguments, expert testimony, cross examination, rebuttal, etc. Each student should be questioned for about 5 minutes (including cross examinations). Your oral presentation (i.e., participation in the trial) is worth 50 points.
The peer review component is focused on contribution to the team effort graded by other members of the team. Your peer review score is worth 10 points.
