This course is offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In this course we examine many of the interactions between plants and insects, including how plant phytochemistry constrains plant-feeding insects and what insects do to overcome these obstacles. An evolutionary approach is taken for how plant-insect associations have resulted in the present day diversity of each taxon. Impacts on both plant and insects populations are considered. Students are required to choose a topic of interest and develop it into an independent project and research paper.
