PICTURES - 2004 GEOHAZARDS COURSE

Some of the Class of 2004 at Fort Charles, Port Royal.  Our leader, Rafi, stands at the far right.  Yes, it was a windy day.

Gordon Town, examining features that contribute to weakening bedrock, and subsequent slope failure.   Gordon Town.  Doing what we do best, taking a break.

Gordon Town. Way up the creek on the foot bridge.   Gordon Town. Safely over the footbridge.  Yes, we've come a long way, and we're still taking notes.

The wondrous Giddy House.  Help!  I'm falling.  Liquefaction can be a problem.

Here we are at the old Prison Quarry, Rockfort Spa, Kingston.   Fort Charles, Port Royal.  The big guy (Matt) is concerned, but remains nonplused.

Trip to the country, Hillside Primary School (background) sits right in the path of potential disaster from debris floods and flows.    Hillside, St. Thomas.  Examining evidence for recent debris flows.  Watch out. Very nice mangos in Hillside.

Cooling our heels, East Arm of the Morant River, Hillside, St. Thomas.  The 18 meter high dam is part of a failed hydroelectric project.  The reservoir above the dam was essentially filled right up to the brim by rocks deposited in just two events of flooding.

Day off at the beach.  View of Port Royal Mountains from Lyme Cay.

Port Royal.  Paige, Matt and Ben, thirsty, as usual.  Liquefaction is on their minds.
