Comperancy Goal 2:� The learner will synthesize and use information from a variety of sources.
Objective: 2.01- respond to informational materials that are read, heard, and/or viewed.
Materials needed:� Pen and paper, and all workshop materials that are in the classroom.
Purpose:� This minilesson is designed to orient students to the resources that are in the classroom.
Total time involved: 10 minutes
Script:� �Hey everyone, before we begin the writing workshop I would like to do a small activity.� We are going to spend the next 10 minutes on a scavenger hunt in the classroom.� The goal is to locate the different resources in the room, so we all know where to find the things we will need for the workshop.�� The list will include:
� Personal portfolio
� Reference books
� Markers
� Fiction books
� Non-fiction books
� Writer�s Handbooks
� Progress folders
� Assignment lists
� Other materials (The list will very from teacher to teacher)
�As you go through the rooms write down what you have found and where it is located in the room.� Make a list of all the items that you will be using throughout the term.�
