1. Know the history of the concept of the reflex: Descartes vs. Pavlov. What is the definition of a reflex?
2. Be able to draw an event diagram, identify and/or label the events in a conditioning session both before and after conditioning has taken place.
3. Be able to read and label event diagrams of the different acquisition procedures.
4. Be able to identify and compare the effectiveness of the acquisition procedures.
5. Be able to read a description of a conditioning situation, translate it into an event diagram, identify the procedure, and label the events.
6. Be able to identify an extinction procedure and understand Pavlov's interpretation of extinction and the "spontaneous recovery" effect.
7. Be able to identify and differentiate among latent inhibition, conditioned inhibition, external inhibition, inhibition of delay, and disinhibition.
8. Make sure that you read Watson & Rayner (1920). Be able to identify the procedures and effects at the various stages of the Watson & Rayner experiment.
