Timberlake & Allison (1974) Response Deprivation Theory
1. RD is created by exposure to a contingency.
2. RD exists when the subject, when performing the baseline amount of the instrumental activity, is unable to obtain access to the baseline amount of the contingent activity.
3. The "reinforcement effect" is an increase in the amount of the instrumental activity to recover the lost amount of access to the contingent activity.
