Anna Marcella Falco Tedeschi was an active, happy teenager when the racial laws were first promulgated, and she had to stop her secondary education when Jews were forbidden to attend classes. She was able to finish her high school education in a Jewish school.  Her family experienced real poverty when Jews were forbidden to hold jobs.  When the situation worsened, she took on a false name and posed as a Christian, hiding in Rome.  Her grandmother and aunt were unable to make it to Rome and were deported and killed in Auschwitz.
