The Math Support Summit - Virtual Conference is a free event that promotes the sharing of the  current trends in mathematics support courses at 2- and 4-year colleges and universities.  Attendees will learn about current research in support courses, participate in discussions about support course content and design, and hear about specific support course implementations.

Support courses have been identified as one element for keeping students on track in their mathematics pathway.  Students who don’t successfully complete their mathematics classes the first time are then behind in their academic degree progress.  To address this issue, the North Carolina Community College System has replaced time-consuming developmental courses with required co-requisites that supplement their degree-satisfying mathematics and statistics courses in order to reduce the time students spend in college.  In addition, four-year colleges and universities have also introduced support courses to bridge content gaps and develop skills in self-regulation in freshman-level mathematics and statistics courses.  The Math Support Summit will give participants the opportunity to learn about different aspects of support courses and implementations at specific institutions.
