French Graduate Certificate

The French Certificate is designed to provide depth on knowledge in French language and Francophone culture.

Program Highlights:

  • This program requires 18 credit hours for completion.
  • The courses are offered partially on line and in the summer.
  • The department also offers the MA in Romance Languages and a graduate certificate in Spanish.

Application Essentials

Required number of references to specify in the online form:  3

Supplemental Information: Resume (Required upload for application submission); writing sample in target language (upload on the Additional Information page in the online application), and an audiotaped interview for evaluation of oral command of target language (to mail to the Graduate School). International students must submit a writing sample in English (upload on the Additional Information page in the online application), and must pass an oral interview in English.

Basic Conditions for Consideration of Admission: Meeting or exceeding the conditions below does NOT guarantee admission. All applications for a given entry term will be weighed based upon the number of seats available and the quality of the complete application packages.

Admission to French: Cum UGPA 3.0; GPA in subject area 3.2; official GRE scores.

    Graduate Programs

    Accelerated Master’s program opportunities are available in pursuing a master's degree in 12 selected areas: Appalachian Studies, Biology, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, English, Geography and Planning, History, Mathematics, Romance Languages (French/Spanish), Political Science, Psychology (Experimental Science) and Public Administration.
