Beginning at 7:45 a.m., ESPN will be recording and broadcasting live shows, including College Football Live at 3 p.m.

10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Get ready for the poster contest, and a chance to win one of 21 prizes, including FREE tuition and fees for the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year! The Makerspace in Belk Library is open until 5 p.m. and  Club Hub is open until 7 p.m. in the Plemmons Student Union.

Overnight on Sanford Mall

Looking for a chance to get into the College GameDay pit? Spend a September night under the stars on Sanford Mall and claim your spot for a chance to be one of the 500 who will be on-camera during Saturday’s show! (Sleeping bags only - no tents, chairs or coolers, Plemmons Student Union restrooms will be open overnight)

Students and employees: be sure you have relocated your vehicle if it's parked in restricted tailgate lots - towing begins at 4 a.m. Saturday.

App State Poster Contest

Make a poster for a chance to win one of 21 prizes, including FREE tuition and fees that can be applied to the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year! The contest will take place prior to the College GameDay air time on Saturday morning. The grand prize winner will be announced live during ESPN’s College GameDay by the GameDay cast and celebrities.

App State Poster Contest

Make a poster for a chance to win one of 21 prizes, including FREE tuition and fees for the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year! The contest will take place prior to the College GameDay air time on Saturday morning.

Prizes

  • The grand prize winner of the competition will get A ONE-YEAR FREE RIDE — tuition and fees* that can be applied to the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year.
    *in-state tuition and fees at the undergraduate rate
  • 10 people will win $500 free Dining Dollars to be used at any App State Campus Dining retail locations.
  • 10 people will win $250 free Dining Dollars to be used at any App State Campus Dining retail locations.

All prizes can be applied to current (2022-23) or next (2023-24) academic year.

Participation Criteria

  • ONE-YEAR FREE RIDE Grand Prize (1 winner): All current or future App State undergraduate or graduate students are eligible to win Grand Prize
  • Dining Dollars Prizes (20 winners): open to anyone, regardless of student status

All Winners should be available to go on the field during the App State vs. Troy University game beginning at 3:30 p.m. Winners will be provided with a gameday ticket and field pass.

Poster Criteria

Sign Etiquette and Specs

  • No posts/sticks
  • Material: foam core or poster board

Yes:

  • Promote the App State experience. Use the hashtags.
  • School spirit.
  • Focus on local interests. 
  • Promote local celebrities and/or pop culture.
  • Football-themes.
  • Meme-like signs.
  • Be creative.
  • Readable, good color contrast, shows up well on camera.

No:

  • Rude, vulgar or offensive language, photos or graphics, including anything about the other team.
  • Political or religious content.
  • Sales pitches - anything promoting a website or business.
  • Misspellings.

Judging

  • Those who wish to participate in the Poster Contest should be on Sanford Mall with their posters BEFORE 7 a.m. Saturday, Sep 17. Winners will be chosen by 9:30 a.m. You do not have to be in the College GameDay Pit to win the contest, but contest winners may be asked to join the pit.
  • Contest judges are Stephanie Billings, Executive Director of Alumni Affairs, Dr. Shannon Campbell, Dean of College of Fine & Applied Arts, and Dustin Kerns, Men’s Basketball Head Coach.
  • The grand prize winner will be announced live during College GameDay. All prizewinners' names will be announced publicly during College GameDay show breaks.

The Fine Print

The names, images and poster images of all 21 prizewinners will be used for App State and ESPN College GameDay publicity.

The Grand Prize is the cost of in-state, undergraduate tuition and fees for the 2022-23 academic year OR the 2023-24 academic year. App State’s Student Accounts team will reach out to the Grand Prizewinner to assist in applying the tuition and fees credit.

Any prizewinner who has a financial aid package with App State will be contacted by the university’s Financial Aid Office to assist in applying applicable winnings to their aid package.

All prizes are subject to any applicable state and federal tax regulations.

For the purposes of this contest, the terms “Tuition and fees” and “Free Ride” are defined as the cost of in-state, undergraduate tuition and fees for the 2022-23 academic year OR the 2023-24 academic year. “Dining Dollars” refers to a gift card to be used at any App State Campus Dining retail locations. Dining Dollars may be used by any member of the general public.

No purchase of any sort is necessary to participate in the poster contest.

All participants must be at least 18 years old to be eligible to win the poster contest.

To be eligible to win the grand prize, participants must be at least 18 years old and must be academically eligible for enrollment at App State.

Parking

Regular campus permits are required for students and employees on Friday, Sept. 16. Game Day permits are required for Saturday, Sept. 17. Review the Parking Information for Football Game on Saturday, Sept. 17 notice for further details.

Visitor Parking

Friday, Sept. 16

Visitors to campus may park in the Rivers Street Parking Deck from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. for a fee. Prepayment is required via the AMP Park app. 

Public parking is available in downtown Boone at various locations. 

Saturday, Sept. 17

Some public parking may be available in downtown Boone. Visit Explore Boone’s Guide to Game Day Parking for other paid parking options in the area. 

AppalCART Routes

On Saturday, Sept. 17, AppalCART will be running regular game day routes beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the following routes will begin running early at 7 a.m.:

  • Red route
  • Green route
  • Pop 105 route
