Visiting
There is no better way to learn about Appalachian than to visit us. Although you are welcome to visit our campus anytime, we encourage you to consider the visiting during Open House or scheduling a campus tour to ensure that you have a successful and enjoyable visit to Appalachian. Campus Tours
Campus tours are hosted by the Appalachian Student Ambassadors. Plan to allow approximately two hours for your visit which will include a multi-media presentation highlighting the area, the campus, and our students; a discussion of admission criteria; a walking campus tour; and opportunities to meet with University representatives. Tours are available throughout the year except for holidays and University breaks.
- Register online at First Connections. If you have not yet obtained your First Connections' account, it is easy to set up and it's free.
- Tour size is limited for the benefit of the visitors. Be sure to register at least a week in advance.
- Groups larger than six members should visit the Group Tours webpage for instructions on how to schedule a campus visit.
Open House
During Open House, students and their families can take part in a number of planned activities designed to give them a closer look at academic and social life at the university. It is an informative way to spend a day in the scenic Appalachian highlands. Reservations are not required. For more information, please visit openhouse.appstate.edu or call 828-262-2120.

On-Campus Accommodations
Overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, Appalachian's on-campus Broyhill Inn and Conference Center offers a convenient location with newly refurbished rooms and a full-service conference center. Located on a hill above the main campus, the Inn is surrounded by a breathtaking 25-mile view at 3,500 feet in elevation. It is just minutes from winter ski resorts, summer attractions, fly fishing, white water rafting, championship golf courses and many cultural events.
