About
Protecting and conserving the Earth’s natural resources is vital to ensuring they are available for use not only today but in the future as well. The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Science - Natural Resources at App State is designed for those who are interested in careers in conservation and policy upon graduation, rather than highly technical fields.
As a Natural Resources major, you will gain a comprehensive education that blends scientific knowledge with practical skills, preparing you for careers in environmental management, conservation, policy-making and more.
The degree’s curriculum spans the intersection of earth sciences, life sciences, conservation and policy. You will learn how the Earth’s biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, geologic materials and surface processes are all interconnected with policy-making.
While an App State student, you’ll have domestic and international opportunities to go into the field to better understand pressing local and international environmental problems, equipping you with the hands-on skills needed to go directly into the workforce and solve these issues.
App State offers the largest undergraduate geosciences department in the University of North Carolina System. Approximately 94% of our graduates are employed in some field within the geosciences and environmental sciences.
