App State’s Religious Studies (BA) - Religion and Public Health explores the intersections of religion, culture and health, examining how religious beliefs, practices and institutions shape public health outcomes, access to care, health behaviors and ethical decision-making in medical settings.
The program’s interdisciplinary curriculum blends coursework in religious studies, public health, ethics and the social sciences, providing you with a solid understanding of how religious beliefs shape patients’ experiences and influence their decisions regarding medical treatment, as well as end-of-life care.
You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue a variety of careers in faith-based and secular health organizations, nonprofit outreach, health education, community advocacy and more. The program also serves as a strong foundation for graduate study in public health, social work, medicine, divinity or health policy.
