Transfer Admissions & Application Process
App State reviews applications on a rolling basis. Apply anytime and receive an admission decision in just 2-4 weeks.

Applicant Requirements

Minimum GPA:
2.25 cumulative GPA required for transfer applicants
- Students with less than a 2.25 GPA are reviewed holistically. We encourage students to connect directly with their App State admissions counselor.

Credit Hours:
Must have completed or have in progress at least 24 transferable credit hours.
- If a student has fewer than 24 credit hours, a high school transcript is required.
- Course Grades: Courses with a grade of C- or higher transfer.
Application Process & Materials
- Submit Application: Apply via the Application Portal
- Application Fee: $65 non-refundable fee (or approved fee waiver)
- Official Transcripts: Official college transcripts from all previously attended colleges
- High School Transcript: Required if fewer than 24 college credit hours have been completed

The earlier you apply, the earlier you'll hear from us! You'll receive an admissions decision in your MyMountaineer Portal within 2-4 weeks.
You must apply for fall or summer to be eligible for transfer student scholarships. Learn more about outside scholarships.

Deposits should be submitted within 3 weeks of receiving your admission decision.
Fall or Summer Admission Aug 1 Transfer Application Opens

Feb 1 Submit Application to Guarantee Scholarship Consideration
App State offers transfer scholarships exclusively for incoming transfer students.
If you are applying to the Boone campus after Feb 1, aim to apply by April 1 to allow time to complete all enrollment steps. May 1 Deadline to Deposit

Program Note: App State Online Social Work holds deadlines of November 1 for Spring entry and April 1 for Summer/Fall entry.
