Challenge 5 Choices: Investigations

Now that you have looked at both sets of interviews, you are now to investigate the Patterning and Partitioning lesson sequence itself to see how these lessons supported the development of the students’ mathematical understandings. Video episodes from eight class sessions during the five-week lesson sequence are available and are identified on the timeline below. These videos range from three to ten minutes.


Note for the instructor: There are various ways to approach the investigation of these challenges. We have found it useful to divide the class into groups, with each group studying one challenge in depth, and thus the following challenges are organized in this way.
