About Me

Hi, my name is Kimberly Isidori. I graduated from Appalachian State University in May of 2010 with a BS in Elementary Education and will graduate in May of 2012 with an MA in Reading Education. Although I have not yet been a full-time teacher, I have had many teaching experiences ranging from Kindergarten to seventh grade. During my undergraduate program, I tutored first graders afterschool, completed two internships in kindergarten and fifth grade classrooms and did my student teaching in a first grade classroom. I was also very fortunate to have the opportunity to complete part of my student teaching abroad in Ireland where I was able to learn the similarities and differences between their education system and ours. Throughout my master's program I have worked with students from Kindergarten through seventh grade through tutoring and testing opportunities. All of these experiences have prepared me to teach my own class and I am very excited for the opportunity to do so!

Literacy is what I am most passionate about and I aspire to not only teach literacy, but to instill a love of reading in my students. The reading program has provided me with a wealth of knowledge about literacy instruction, reading assessments, guided reading, word study, and writing instruction that I am confident will allow me to be a successful teacher of reading.
