Worthwhile Mathematical Tasks

> Publish:

Write a paper in which you analyze the nature of the tasks posed and extent to which they supported development of the students' conceptions of volume and space filling. You are expected to write how the mathematical tasks promoted understanding and supported the students' conceptual development of volume and space filling. Pay attention to both the nature of the tasks and to how they were sequenced in the lessons.

In your report, be sure to give specific examples by referring to the lesson plan, classroom events, the teacher's comments, and small-group work. In addition to the paper, you are expected to present an overview of your analysis to the class and to facilitate discussion on your topic.
